Well, shoot。 This might be my very favorite of Deborah's books ever。 The setting, the characters, the slowly growing romance, the conflict, the ending。 I smiled, I cried, I reread my favorite passages。 The story of a fisherman who pulls a mermaid from the sea and all that follows is what my dreams were made of as a little girl。 And now I need to plan a trip to Cornwall, ASAP。 Thank you to the author for my advanced copy of this book。 All opinions here are my own。 Well, shoot。 This might be my very favorite of Deborah's books ever。 The setting, the characters, the slowly growing romance, the conflict, the ending。 I smiled, I cried, I reread my favorite passages。 The story of a fisherman who pulls a mermaid from the sea and all that follows is what my dreams were made of as a little girl。 And now I need to plan a trip to Cornwall, ASAP。 Thank you to the author for my advanced copy of this book。 All opinions here are my own。 。。。more

Ever since watching Poldark, I’ve loved Cornwall-based stories and this one did not disappoint。 Along with the fun love story, I really enjoyed learning more about the fishing industry during that time。 Plus, the singing around the bonfire on the beach really has me looking forward to summer 🤓

Deborah Hathaway has jumped right into being one of my favorite authors。 She has such rich descriptive detailing and wonderful stories。 You can tell she has done her research! I love this series and the way it is all in Cornwall but we get to learn about a different aspect in each book—from high society to mining, fishing, and lighthouses。 Sweet romance with character growth and great side characters。

The mermaid aspects were fun to read but also learning more about the fishing trade kept me very intrigued while reading this book。 So very interesting!!!Morvoren and Trevik have a rock start to their relationship。 But even with that rocky start, I still enjoyed the tension that was written into their interactions。 Then as they call somewhat of a truce, their relationship starts to develop further。 Their banter back and forth throughout the book had me giggling and smiling。 I loved how it showed their personalities and their desire are characters to protect family (that's a little vague but no spoilers from me)!The Honeysett family quickly made their way into my heart。 And I'm looking forward to reading Poppy Honeysett's story next in this series。 She's such a fun character。 I love her goodness and friendliness and can't wait to learn more about her when I read her story。 She definitely takes after her brother Trevik in those traits。 If you're looking for sweet and clean romance, that aspect of Trevik and Morvoren's relationship is delightful。 They have sparks flying between them due to their banter, but also due to the growing attraction and chemistry between them。 There are so many scenes between them that I just adored so much! On the boat, in the cellars, on the beach, at the swimming hole, on the rocks, in the wagon cart, at dinner (especially one dinner-hahahahaha!!!) and so many more! And the ending。。。oh my heart! You're in for a real treat! If you haven't already caught on from my review, I highly recommend reading this one。 I wished I could have picked it up and devoured it right away but my schedule was such that I only was able to read a page here and there but it was delightful and kept pulling me back in until I was able to read their story to the end。 Content: Clean。 Some mild moments of peril。 A couple sweet kisses and nothing further。 I received a copy from the author。 All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own。Happy Reading!!! 。。。more

I absolutely adore that while this is a historic romance, the writing style is so engaging and does not feel like you need to struggle through reading it。 The character and world building really sucks a reader into Cornwall and the lives of its inhabitants。 This is true of the entire series and not just In the Waves of Tristwick。 While this is part of a series, you can read this story as a standalone。 However, I binge read the entire series, starting with the novella, before reading this one and I do not regret that at all。 So if you need someone to just tell you to read the whole series first, here’s your encouragement! While out fishing with his crew, Trevik pulls a woman up from the sea who was caught in his net。 In 1800s Cornwall, some of the men of his crew are quite superstitious and fear this woman be a sea-maid, a mermaid, who will call down a storm to destroy them all。 But Morvoren isn’t actually a sea-maid is she? Or is she simply a woman with secrets? A lot of them? Morvoren’s supposed memory loss wreaks a lot of havoc for Trevik as his crew become distrustful of him and wants nothing more than for her to leave。 Morvoren very much wants to get away from these fishermen but initially injuries from being caught in the net make that difficult。 Moreover, she is trying to run from a life she does not want。I loved the fieriness of Trevik and Morvoren’s initial relationship。 He does not trust her。 She is keeping many, many secrets。 This causes a lot of tension between them。 However, time does certainly help to mend the distrust on both sides。 Both begin to open up。 Until Trevik tries to save his crew at the expense of his feelings for Morvoren。 At one point, I wanted nothing more than to slap him silly! Which I think is great writing on the part of the author because he was making me just so made。 But, as with all good romances, there is a turning point where all becomes well again。 There were some great twists that I was able to figure out but still made for exciting and dramatic reading!I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review。 。。。more

Deborah Hathaway has delivered another enchanting Cornish story with In the Waves of Tristwick, one readers won’t want to miss。 I have greatly enjoyed this series, and I loved getting to learn more about fishing in Cornwall。 It was also fun to see past characters whose stories I have enjoyed, as well as get a glimpse at the next book in the series。 4/5 starsI received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。
Alexis Stewart,
Deborah has done it again。 Written such an incredible story that just pulls you in and leaves you wondering what is going to happen next。In the Waves of Tristwick does not disappoint。 The how the characters come to meet, how they come to trust one another with parts of their past and how they are able to find the family they are truly seeking and wanting。 Who doesn't love reading a good love story。 Morvoren and Trevik's story is heartwarming。 As they are both able to let go of past feeling and e Deborah has done it again。 Written such an incredible story that just pulls you in and leaves you wondering what is going to happen next。In the Waves of Tristwick does not disappoint。 The how the characters come to meet, how they come to trust one another with parts of their past and how they are able to find the family they are truly seeking and wanting。 Who doesn't love reading a good love story。 Morvoren and Trevik's story is heartwarming。 As they are both able to let go of past feeling and experiences and truly be able to open up to one another。 It may have also helped that everyone believed her to be a mermaid。 。。。more
Rachael,
Beautiful novel that took me to Cornwall and all things fishing! I felt as if I was on the shore feeling the salty sea air on my face and the cold wet sand in my toes。 I really enjoyed Trevik and Morvoren's story! I especially loved all the research that went into this, it gave depth with the details of that unique life in the early 1800s!Thanks for the opportunity to read an ARC Deborah! Oh, how I love the sea and "In the Waves of Tristwick" took me there! Also, who doesn’t want to read about a dashing fisherman and a feisty lady mistaken for a mermaid? I highly recommend reading it!I received a complimentary copy of this book。 All opinions are completely my own。 。。。more
Tasha,
Five stars, re-readable…what more do I need to say。 These last two books in this series have swept me away to Cornwall and I’m not sure I ever want to come back。 I loved the mermaid/sea-maid incorporation to this story and make sure you read the Author’s notes at the back of the book。 Fascinating!! I was so immersed in this story that I didn’t want it to end, then I needed to know how it ended, then it ended and I was sad it was over lol。 I will be re-reading this one over and over and over! Another winner from Cornwall!! This is such a lovely story, I couldn’t put it down。 The storyline is creative, entertaining and witty。 I admire Deborah M。 Hathaway for her descriptive words, to make the story come alive, her desire to research the history, to make it accurate and her talent for making it flow so naturally。 The characters are so engaging and frankly, written to perfection! I can’t think of one thing I didn’t like about this book!! So I highly suggest you read it!
